The Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Kochi Corporation has served a notice for a no-confidence motion against town planning standing committee chairperson J. Sanilmon.

UDF committee members A.R. Padmadas, Sakkeer Thammanam, Mini Dileep, and Suja Lonappan served the notice. UDF parliamentary party leader M.G. Aristotle said it followed corruption allegations raised by LDF councillor P.S. Viju based on which the Mayor had ordered a Vigilance probe.

Mr. Aristotle also claimed that ₹50 lakh had been taken as bribe by Mr. Sanilmon to regularise a commercial complex that owes the Corporation ₹3 crore in taxes. Mr. Viju had also alleged that a Corporation official informed him that the bribe was collected for standing committee chairpersons Sanilmon and P.R. Ranish, and that he had the audio clip of the conversation, Mr. Aristotle said.
