Pakistan pacer on Tuesday reached 100 T20I wickets, scalping three in his four-over spell against South Africa in the first T20I in Durban.

The left-arm pacer thereby became only the third Pakistan bowler after Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf to reach 100 wickets in the format, conceding only 22 runs as South Africa racked up 183/9 in 20 overs on the back of David Miller’s 40-ball 82.

Afridi achieved this feat in his 74th T20I match, making him the third-quickest bowler from a Full-Member nation after Haris Rauf (71) and Mark Adair (72) to claim 100 T20I wickets.

Afridi also became only the fourth bowler to complete 100 wickets in all three formats. The 24-year-old is also the youngest to achieve the mark and the only bowler to reach 100 wickets in all formats before turning 30.

Sri Lanka pace legend Lasith Malinga was the first bowler to reach 100 wickets in all three formats, having achieved the mark in 2019. He was followed by New Zealand’s Tim Southee and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in 2021.

Afridi made his T20I debut for Pakistan days before his 18th birthday in 2018. Last year during the ODI World Cup in India, Shaheen became the quickest fast bowler from a Full-Member Nation to complete 100 ODI wickets, reaching the mark in only his 54th ODI.
