NEW DELHI: With a clear mandate for the
Mahayuti
in
Maharashtra assembly election
results, who will form the next government is settled. Now the question in focus is – who will be the next chief minister?
As celebrations began in the Mahayuti camp after the historic victory, an image of two leaders Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis has caught the attention.
Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde, deputy CMs Ajit Pawar, Devendra Fadnavis and other Mahayuti leaders came together at the CM official residence Varsha Bungalow in Mumbai to celebrate the resounding victory.
The Mahayuti has won/leading on 223 seats. Both the leaders, Shinde and Fadnavis, have however sent a message by sitting on similar chairs.
The video from the CM house showed Shinde and Fadnavis sitting on identical armchairs while the other two leaders Ajit Pawar and Ramdas Athawale sat on smaller chairs.
While this kind of sitting arrangement may or may not hold any meaning, the game of CM race has just started.
Given the robust mandate of 130 seats to BJP, Fadnavis is emerging as the frontrunner after serving as the party’s campaign face. On the other hand, Eknath Shinde is also likely to stake claim for the post.
On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi, consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP faction, has failed to make any impact in the elections. It managed to lead/win only 45 seats.
