Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating an attack on him during a foot march in Vikaspuri, Delhi. Kejriwal claimed ‘BJP goons’ assaulted him during the event. He questioned whether the BJP intended to “kill him” and challenged them to contest elections against him.

Kejriwal addressed a gathering in Delhi, saying, “Do you want to kill me? If you have the courage, contest elections against me.” He stressed that he has no desire for power and is more concerned about the development work in Delhi.

Accompanying Kejriwal, AAP MP Sanjay Singh stated that Delhi’s citizens would “take revenge for this insult” in the upcoming elections, accusing BJP of being nervous about their electoral prospects in Delhi.

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized the Delhi Police and BJP for failing to take appropriate action against the attackers.

In response, BJP Delhi Chief Virendraa Sachdeva claimed that Kejriwal plays the victim when questioned by the public. He said, “Kejriwal, you have looted Delhi in the name of electricity, water, and roads, and the public is asking you questions.”

Kejriwal had been released from Tihar Jail last month after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. After his release, he resigned from the Chief Minister post, awaiting the public’s “certificate of honesty” in the upcoming assembly elections. Minister Atishi succeeded him as the Chief Minister.

The Delhi assembly elections are expected to take place in early 2025. In the 2020 elections, AAP secured 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP won eight, and Congress did not win any seats.
