Bobby Deol breaks down after paparazzi praise him as ‘Animal’ sets box-office on fire: ‘Feels like a dream’
Reflecting on his current state of mind, Bobby said, “I keep pinching myself so many times to see if this is really happening. But I always believe that hard work eventually turns into luck.” For Bobby, the journey has been a blend of perseverance and self-belief. There were times he wondered if luck would ever be on his side, yet his dedication and resilience kept him focused. “When you have self-belief, things start changing for you,” he said.
During the pandemic, Bobby’s career took an interesting turn, as OTT platforms gave him opportunities to reach audiences beyond conventional cinema. “OTT really benefited me,” he explained. “I did some shows and movies that were liked by the audiences. But the reaction to ‘Animal’ was beyond anything I could have imagined. The magic of the silver screen is unmatched, and when you’re recognized for your work there, it’s every actor’s dream.”
Following the massive success of ‘Animal’, Bobby received the opportunity to make his South Indian film debut with ‘Kanguva’. “After ‘Animal’, to be able to start my career in the South with a film like ‘Kanguva’ feels surreal,” he shared. “I couldn’t have asked for more.”
Bobby described how the offer felt almost serendipitous. When he heard Suriya would be the main lead, he was immediately on board. “I’ve been a big fan of Suriya’s. The kind of work he does always has so much substance, with unique and interesting screenplays,” Bobby said.
Bobby expressed gratitude for his experience working with director Siva and producer
Gnanavel Raja
. Initially unfamiliar with the team, he soon realized their shared passion for big cinema. “Gnanavel has so many productions and is a very passionate filmmaker. Shiva has a remarkable vision. Together, they think big and aim to offer audiences something extraordinary.”
For Bobby, the filming process on ‘Kanguva’ was intense but exhilarating. From battling strong storm fans and water effects to acting amid smoke, he embraced the physical demands of the role. “That’s the fun of being an actor – you get to experience what the character is going through, even when it involves braving the weather around you.”
Reflecting on his journey, Bobby Deol is clearly grateful. “It’s been a great journey,” he concluded.
