‘CSK CSK’ chants erupt in Chinnaswamy as Devon Conway & Siraj get involved in a banter

New Zealand batter Devon Conway and Mohd Siraj were involved in a banter during Day 1 of the ongoing IND vs NZ 1st Test at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The incident happened during the 15th over as Devon Conway slammed Siraj for a four. The Bengaluru crowd started chanting “DSP, DSP, DSP” for Siraj. Meanwhile, the rest of the crowd erupted with “CSK-CSK-CSK” chants.

Conway went onto play a fluent knock as he scored his fifty in just 54 balls and surpassed India’s first innings total of 46 in no time. Conway departed for 91 runs and missed out on a well-deserved century against India.

Will Devon Conway play in IPL 2025?

In the last edition of the IPL, Devon Conway did not participate owing to an injury. In the 2023 IPL, Devon Conway was a key member of the CSK outfit that won the IPL for a record-equaling fifth time by winning the 2023 edition. The left-handed batter was the third-leading run-getter in last year’s competition, smashing 672 runs in 15 innings at an average of 51.69 and a strike rate of 139.71.

Conway was, in fact, the Player of the Match as Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans in a rain-affected final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He smashed 47 off 25 as Chennai went on to win the IPL 2023 summit clash by five wickets (DLS method).

Despite missing in the 2024 IPL, Devon Conway is likely to be retained by the Yellow Army for the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. The left-handed batter is likely to open alongside skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and will try to give some quick starts to their team.
