Ramesh Taurani on Vashu Bhagnani’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan row: ‘Don’t think he’s that kind of producer’

The controversy around ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ is unlikely to go away anytime soon because of the growing controversy surrounding its creation, which has even included non-cast members and staff members.

Ramesh Taurani

, co-founder of Tips Industries, a company that produces and distributes films as well as a record label, has now spoken on the controversy and defended the producers of

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan

(BMCM).

Many of the people who worked on the film, especially those in the technical field, came forward after its box office failure and claimed they had not received payment from the producers, Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jackky Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment. This is how the controversy started. When the issue got to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (

FWICE

) in response to a complaint directed at the producers by the director of the film, Ali Abbas Zafar, things got more serious. Apart from Zafar, the production company has also been accused of nonpayment by directors Tinu Desai and Vikas Bahl, who directed Pooja Entertainment’s Mission Raniganj (2023) and Ganpath (2023), respectively. The Bhagnanis retaliated by accusing Zafar of “misappropriation of funds” in a police complaint.
Ramesh Taurani spoke on the controversy in the midst of all of this, saying he thought it would be settled shortly. He continued by saying that Vashu Bhagnani isn’t “that kind of producer” in his opinion. During a chat with The Indian Express, the filmmaker said, “Whatever happened will be cleared up and they will move forward. I don’t think he’s the kind of producer who would do something like this. He’s been around since 1995. I have never heard of him doing something like this with anyone’s money before. I think it’s a misunderstanding, and they’ll make sure it’s sorted out.”
The cast and crew of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan have firmly supported Ali Abbas Zafar despite the Bhagnanis’ complaint against him. They are defending him against charges of “criminal conspiracy” and “misappropriation of funds.”

The Bhagnanis accuse Zafar and his business partners of tricking them into a conspiracy in their 17-page complaint, which outlines their grievances. They further claimed that Ali had “hijacked” the Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff movie and “siphoned off subsidy funds from Abu Dhabi authorities” while it was being filmed.
