For anyone who grew up in the 1990s watching Bollywood movies, Shah Rukh Khan was the epitome of romance (and still is), serenading his lady loves with his killer smile, and that signature arms out in the air action. Alia Bhatt, who was born in 1993, is no different. Though the two have worked together in age appropriate roles in Love You Zindagi, Alia still remains the biggest fan girl of SRK.
In a recent conversation with Allure magazine, Alia said that SRK is the first person that comes to mind when she thinks of Bollywood.
The actress then reminisced about a scene from the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, where Kajol is walking away from SRK at the station, and SRK thinks she will turn around if she loves him. Talking about the same, Alia said, “Then he’s waiting for her to turn, ‘Palat,’ and then suddenly on cue like she turns and then the music just swells and it’s like butterflies, goosebumps, everything put together.”
“But I think every girl has wanted that sort of recreation in her life where you look back and there’s a guy looking at you or he’s waiting for you to look at him, ” she further added.
In the same interview, Alia was asked to name her favourite from Indian cinema. While her co-star and nationwide heart-throb Shah Rukh Khan came first, the actress was quick to name Aishwarya Rai Bachchan too.
Alia credited Aishwarya for inspiring her and revealed that she she closely followed the former beauty queen’s performances in her films. “When it comes to learning or being inspired by somebody who’s embodied dance in the most beautiful way on screen, I can’t help but think of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. She was absolutely and is still just mesmerizing,” the Alpha star shared.

The actress went on to reveal that whenever she had to perform a song in her own movies, she would watch Aishwarya’s performances to “capture her expressions.” She admired Aishwarya’s graceful movements and how she carried herself throughout the songs. Showering love on Aishwarya, Alia added that her performances are remarkably “perfect and precise”.
Previously, while speaking at a Forbes event, Alia had mentioned Aishwarya and other actresses, hailing their global recognition.
“Many Actresses from the Indian film industry have done that and are huge sources of inspiration to me. Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika (Deepika Padukone), these are actors who are also friends of mine but whom I also admire deeply. I have to give them a lot of credit because they paved the way in a sense. You know, made it a normal thing,” Alia Bhatt had stated.
On the work front, Alia is gearing up for the release of her next production venture,
Jigra
, co-starring Vedang Raina. The film is all set to hit the screens on 11 October.
