Indian men’s cricket team has announced its squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, starting on 19th September. The squad sees a blend of experience and fresh talent. The lineup features spin-allrounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel However, one name is missing, Washington Sundar, who has been left out after being part of the team against England earlier this year. The 24-year-old may have missed his chance due to poor form in recent matches.

Washington Sundar had a chance to cement his place in the squad during the Duleep Trophy. Representing India B, Sundar’s performance fell short of expectations. He managed to take only two wickets and contributed little with the bat, scoring a mere 0 and 9 runs in both innings against India A. This poor show likely cost him his spot in the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

On the other hand, Axar Patel made his case strong with an impressive performance in the same tournament. Representing India D, Axar scored a crucial 86 runs in the first innings and added another 28 runs in the second. Not just with the bat, he made his presence felt with the ball, picking up three wickets. His all-round brilliance earned him a well-deserved spot in the squad for the Bangladesh series.
