In a past interview with Rediff, Govinda, famously known for his role in

, shared his decision to step away from comedy to pursue more serious roles.
He also voiced his frustration at frequently being nominated for Best Actor awards without winning, despite his films being major box-office hits.
Reflecting on his comedy films, Govinda noted that they were often dismissed as mere “time-pass entertainment” and labeled as B-grade despite their commercial success.
