Indian Badminton At Paris Paralympics Live: On the fifth day of the 2024 Paris Paralympics, three Indian shuttlers will be in gold medal contention in para badminton. In an afternoon clash on Monday, India’s Sivarajan Solaimalai and Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan lost in the bronze medal clash in the mixed doubles SH6 event.
India have currently won eight medals at the Paris Paralympics, with plenty more expected on Monday.
Nitesh Kumar will take on Daniel Bethell of Great Britain for gold medal in men’s singles SL3 event. In women’s singles SU5 gold medal match, 22-year-old Thulasimathi Murgesan will face a stiff test from China’s Yang Qiu Xia in the final. In men’s singles SL4 Suhas Yathiraj will look to avenge the loss from Tokyo as he takes on Lucas Mazur in a rematch. Sukant Kadam, who lost to Suhas will face Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan for a bronze medal.
Manisha Ramadass will take on Denmark’s Catherine Rosengren in the women’s singles SU5 bronze medal play-off.

Nitesh came into the sport with a helpful build beyond his left leg amputation, but also a reputation in Para circles for playing fancy badminton, and flashy strokes. One of the most strokeful players, his overflowing talent needed direction. Gopichand would assign three of his top coaches to rotate in surprise sessions. “He has good height, and everything in defence, attack and strokes is good,” explains coach Rajendra Kumar. “But we shuffled his sessions, to add variations of three different playing styles so he would get used to different players,” he said.
