Ranbir Kapoor
and
Katrina Kaif
had been together for approximately seven years before separating in 2016. Their past romance resurfaced as a topic of discussion, especially after Neetu Kapoor posted something mysterious on
that many assumed was directed at Katrina.
In an interview with Vogue, Katrina reflected that it was probably one of the first times in her life where she had only herself to focus on.
She realized that when one focuses solely on oneself, the first realization is often that they don’t really know themselves. It was a period of not knowing, a time of being uncomfortable because she was seeing herself in her raw form, without any embellishments, and then accepting that she didn’t really know who she was.
Katrina also mentioned that during that time, when they were still together, going through the experience alongside one of her sisters, who was also separating from someone else, helped her gain a better understanding of things. The public nature of their relationship made her realize that it was mostly her ego that had taken a hit. Despite the break-up, Katrina regarded the separation as a hidden blessing.
She explained that she eventually saw it as a blessing because it allowed her to recognize her patterns, thought processes, and things she had been so sure of her whole life, now seen from a different perspective.
In an earlier interview with Midday, Katrina stated that she and Ranbir still had respect for each other, and that would not change. She shared that when she was going through the separation, one of her sisters was also in the same phase. She realized that since her life was out in the open, her ego was more bruised, but at the end of the day, they both felt the same pain. She found solace in reading, and her friends were a strong source of support. Katrina expressed that she had no regrets about that chapter and had come out of the experience much more mature.
Today, both have moved on with their lives.
