Wrestling medal that was long overdue has now been secured, as Aman Sherawat, who is now the talk of the town, won the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
This was Aman Sherawat’s day. The boy from Haryana is now a household name in the country, as after many long years, he brought home an Olympic medal in Wrestling by defeating Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz. The Indian grappler, who was participating in the men’s 57kg wrestling category, didn’t give his opponent a chance to survive. After the first point, which was taken by Puerto Rico’s Toi Cruz, he couldn’t manage any more and ultimately failed in front of the Indian star, with the match ending in a 13-5 margin.
It was also India’s sixth medal (one silver and five bronze) at the ongoing Games. It had been a long time coming. India’s previous medals in wrestling were won by KD Jadhav (bronze in 1952), Sushil Kumar (bronze in 2008 and silver in 2012), Yogeshwar Dutt (bronze in 2012), Sakshi Malik (bronze in 2016), Bajrang Punia (bronze in 2020), and Ravi Dahiya (silver in 2020).
After this giant success, everyone is talking about him, and deservedly so. After the sadness from Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification two days ago, this victory has brought some happiness back
