Aamir Khan
’s advice on
work-life balance
has had on him. Despite sharing only a brief screen moment with Aamir in Rajkumar Hirani’s 2014 blockbuster PK, Ranbir holds the senior actor in high regard. During a candid conversation on Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, People by WTF, Ranbir shared a poignant piece of advice he received from Aamir that has since shaped his approach to balancing his professional and
personal life
.
Ranbir recalled meeting Aamir two years ago and it left a lasting impact on him . “I met him, and he was in tears,” Ranbir recounted. “I asked him what happened, and he said, ‘I have spent 30 years of my life, and the only relationship I’ve had is with my audience. I don’t have a relationship with my children, my mother, or my ex-wife, Kiran Rao, who was his wife then.’” This confession from Aamir highlighted the sacrifices he made for his career, often at the expense of personal relationships.
This struck a chord with Ranbir, who is determined not to let ambition overshadow his personal life. “That’s what this profession takes. You have to give it all. So the endeavour is to balance your reel life with your real life and not get swayed by ambition,” he explained. Ranbir has been making conscious efforts to spend quality time with his wife, Alia Bhatt, and their daughter, Raha Kapoor, even amidst his busy shooting schedule for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana adaptation1.
Aamir Khan himself has been vocal about his journey towards achieving a better work-life balance. On an episode of Koffee with Karan Season 8, he shared his introspective journey, admitting that he had not nurtured his relationships as much as his work. “I realised that I’ve not spent so much time with Ira and Junaid since they were children. Now, in the last months, I’m a changed person. I connect more with my family, my children, Kiran’s parents, Reena’s parents, my mother, sister, and brother,” Aamir revealed2.
