The 2024 Paris Olympics promises to be a historic event, with 117 Indian athletes competing across 16 sports.

The Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics has officially begun its campaign, with the archery team taking the field on July 25. However, Indian fans will have to wait until July 27 for the first medal event featuring Indian athletes.

Opening Ceremony on July 26

While the wait for India’s first medal event continues, the opening ceremony on July 26 will undoubtedly be a spectacular showcase of French culture and the Olympic spirit.

The Indian shooting team will kickstart their medal hunt on July 27 with the mixed team 10m air rifle event, where Sandeep Singh/Elavenil Valarivan and Arjun Babuta/Ramita Jindal will represent the country.

There will be no Indian athletes in action on July 2026 as there will be an opening ceremony in the evening. Not just Indian athletes but for all sportspersons, there will be no action on Friday, unlike July 25.

Badminton ace PV Sindhu and weightlifting sensation Mirabai Chanu are also expected to make significant contributions to India’s medal tally.

The boxing ring will witness the fierce competition of Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain, both aiming to add to India’s medal count.
