The Congress government in Karnataka has put the controversial job quota bill on hold following huge backlash from the inudstry. The Karnataka State Employment of Local Candidates in the Industries, Factories and Other Establishments Bill, 2024, was cleared by the Cabinet on Monday. The bill, which makes it compulsory for private firms to reserve jobs for Kannadigas in their establishments, was to be tabled in the Assembly on Thursday.
