Veteran actress
Asha Parekh
recently appeared as a guest on the second season of the show The Invincibles on Bollywood Bubble, where she candidly discussed her past rift with fellow actor
Shatrughan Sinha
. In a conversation with host
Arbaaz Khan
, Parekh revealed that the tension between them began when Sinha rose to superstardom and started making demands that things be done his way.
Asha Parekh recounted that the rift deepened when Sinha made some derogatory remarks about himself in the press, which she found distasteful. Although the comments were not directed at her, Parekh expressed her disapproval and subsequently distanced herself from him. Sinha, noticing her cold demeanor, felt regretful but was unsure of the specific reasons for her upset. “He had become a superstar and that time for him was like ‘Whatever I say, that needs to be done.’ Then he made some statements in the press which were very derogatory to him, not to me. But I didn’t like it,” Parekh shared.
Despite attempts by their mutual colleague,
Reena Roy
, to mend the relationship, Parekh remained firm in her stance. “Yes, she tried but I didn’t budge in,” Parekh added. Over time, however, the dynamic between them evolved. Sinha eventually recommended Parekh for the position of censor board chief, indicating that their conflict was starting to melt over years.
Throughout their careers, Asha Parekh and Shatrughan Sinha have worked together in several successful films, including ‘Heera,’ ‘Sagar Sangam,’ and ‘Sajan.’ Their professional collaborations were well-received, despite the personal differences they experienced off-screen.
