West Bengal bypolls: Sporadic violence reported, BJP alleges intimidation and attacks

Kolkata: Sporadic violence reported in four by-polls in West Bengal with a BJP polling agent’s house vandalized and fired at In another location in Ranaghat, a BJP Panchayat worker was attacked. In Raiganj, trouble erupted in a booth in Ramkrishnapur where former Trinamool councillors and workers were allegedly trying to influence the voters.

BJP leader Tapas Roy said, “CAPF has been chased in Maniktala. In Ranaghat, our polling agents have been removed and beaten. In Maniktala, polling agents have been intimidated. TMC miscreants from outside are moving around everywhere. We have informed the Commission. Miscreants can be seen in Web Cameras. The Election commission and central force must be active if the EC wants to save democracy. Such systeem must be restored to ensure peaceful elections.”
