Pakistan’s qualification scenarios for the T20 World Cup super 8 stage have taken a hit after their loss to India.
The Pakistan cricket team is on the verge of elimination from the T20 World Cup. Having already lost to the USA, the Babar Azam-led side was handed an improbable defeat by arch-rivals India at the Nassau Cricket Stadium. Luckily for Pakistan, they have their destiny in their hands.
Pakistan qualification scenarios are pretty straightforward at the moment. They cannot afford to lose their remaining two matches against Canada (on June 11) and Ireland (on June 16). If they lose one of these games, they would be out of the qualification race for the Super 8.
Next, they would like one of India or the USA to lose their next two matches. They would also hope that the India vs USA match on June 12 isn’t washed off, because that would mean they get a point each and both qualify. Lastly, they would like Canada to lose to India, and if they win, they have a worse net run rate than them.
- Pakistan beat Canada and Ireland
- No washout in India vs USA
- One of India or the USA to lose all the next matches
- Canada doesn’t win against India and doesn’t have a better net run rate than Pakistan
