NEW DELHI: AAP
Rajya Sabha
MP
Swati Maliwal
on Sunday lashed out at her party colleagues, saying they once fought for justice for
Nirbhaya
but now are
supporting
the person
accused
of
assaulting
her, adding that if
AAP
leader and former deputy chief minister
Manish Sisodia
, who is in jail in connection with the Delhi excise police case, had been here, “maybe things wouldn’t have been so bad for me!”
The Rajya Sabha MP has accused Arvind Kejriwal’s aide,
Bibhav Kumar
, of assaulting her on May 13 when she visited the chief minister’s residence.
The
Aam Aadmi Party
has denied Maliwal’s allegations, claiming that she is acting under the influence of the BJP to frame
Arvind Kejriwal
in a
false case
.
As AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and the party’s top leaders gear up for staging a protest at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Maliwal said in a post on X, that AAP had previously led protests following Nirbhaya’s rape, and now the party is protesting the arrest of an individual accused of assaulting a woman.
” There was a time when we all came out on the streets to get justice for Nirbhaya. Today, 12 years later, we have come out on the streets to save the accused (Bibhav Kumar) who made the CCTV footage disappear and formatted the phone? I wish they had used this much force for Manish Sisodia ji. Had he been here, maybe things wouldn’t have been so bad for me!” she wrote in her post.
Earlier, Maliwal had
alleged
that Bibhav deleted the CCTV footage from the AAP supremo’s house that would substantiate her claim of being assaulted.
“First Bibhav beat me brutally. He slapped and kicked me. When I freed myself and called 112, he went outside, called security and started making a video. I was screaming and telling the security that Bibhav had beaten me brutally. That entire long part of the video was edited. Only 50 seconds were released when I was fed up with explaining to the security guys. Now they formatted the phone and deleted the entire video? CCTV footage is also missing! Even
conspiracy
has its limits,” she said.
