Actor
Adhyayan Suman
, marking his return to acting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’, shared his experience of being out of work despite the success of two relatively well-received films in 2008.
In an interview with the Indian Express, Adhyayan recalled a time in his career when he felt utterly shattered and contemplated giving up. He highlighted that the toughest aspect of that period was witnessing his
parents
‘ anguish as they stood by him.
However, he now harbors confidence that ‘Heeramandi’ will alter people’s perceptions of him.
Adhyayan went on to recount how his parents, Shekhar Suman and Alka Suman, provided
support
during challenging times. “I prefer not to dwell on the past, but there have been difficult periods, and they’ve been there for me throughout. My mother is quite emotional, whereas my father, though also emotional, tends to keep his feelings to himself. Often, I discover his sentiments towards me through his interviews because he doesn’t express them as openly at home,” he reflected.
The actor acknowledged that the support of his parents and his own self-belief prevented him from falling into the trap of drug abuse and alcoholism.
Adhyayan explained that he could have easily fallen into drug or alcohol abuse but consciously chose not to. He acknowledged that there had been a significant emotional burden in his life previously, but that burden no longer existed.
The actor mentioned that his parents had endured the loss of his brother, which had been profoundly painful. Reflecting on this, he questioned whether he wanted to add to his parents’ pain by making the wrong choices in life. Therefore, he engaged in numerous internal dialogues to motivate himself to face each day, tackle challenges, make necessary calls, attend auditions, and handle all the peripheral tasks required as an actor, he disclosed.
