Mayank has played just four matches, and although he has shown promise, whether he’ll continue to be fit for extended periods is yet to be seen.
Deepak Chahar and Mayank Yadav may have already played their final match of the IPL 2024 season. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer suffered a hamstring injury against the Punjab Kings after bowling just two deliveries and had to leave the field immediately.
Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) speedster Mayank’s side strain injury seemed to have resurfaced against the Mumbai Indians on April 30, and according to Cricbuzz, he’s unlikely to be seen again this season.
Deepak Chahar out of CSK’s next match
“Deepak injury is not looking good. I will not say he is ruled out of the season but doubtful,” Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of CSK, said while talking with Cricbuzz.
He also confirmed that Deepak Chahar won’t be traveling with the team to Dharamshala for the PBKS vs CSK match and will stay in Chennai to recover. “He has stayed back in Chennai. We’re waiting for a report from the medical team,” he added.
Mayank Yadav heading to NCA
According to an Indian Express report, Mayank will head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru soon, where he will get medical assistance. There, he is expected to work with biomechanics expert Troy Cooley.
From the looks of it, the BCCI aren’t preparing for the T20 World Cup 2024 but instead want him on the plane for the upcoming tour of Australia. He may go to Australia for an A tour in June and may even be considered for the India vs Australia 5-match Test series, which starts on November 22, if all goes well.
