The European leg of the FIH Pro League will start with the Belgium leg from May 22 to May 26, followed by the England leg from June 1 to June 9
Salima Tete has been appointed captain of the Indian women’s hockey team for the European leg of the FIH Pro League 2023-24. Hockey India announced that Salima will lead the squad, with midfielder Navneet Kaur serving as her vice-captain.
Salima’s new role comes on the heels of receiving the prestigious Balbir Singh Sr. Award for Player of The Year 2023 in the Women’s category at the 6th Hockey India Annual Awards.
The European leg of the FIH Pro League will start with the Belgium leg from May 22 to May 26, followed by the England leg from June 1 to June 9. India will face Argentina, Belgium, Spain, Great Britain, and Germany twice across both legs. The team begins their campaign against Argentina on May 22. India currently sits in sixth place with eight points from eight matches.

Indian women’s hockey team squad
In terms of the team lineup, Savita and Bichu Devi Kharibam will handle the goalkeeping duties, while the defensive squad includes Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Ishika Chaudhary, Monika, Jyoti Chhatri, and Mahima Chaudhary. The midfielders include captain Salima Tete, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Navneet Kaur, Neha, Jyoti, Baljeet Kaur, Manisha Chauhan, and Lalremsiami.
Upfront, the forward line boasts players such as Mumtaz Khan, Sangita Kumari, Deepika, Sharmila Devi, Preeti Dubey, Vandana Katariya, Sunelita Toppo, and Deepika Soreng.
