Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Congress committee (APCC) chief

YS Sharmila

resumed her on-ground tour of Kadapa parliament from the Badvel (SC) constituency on Wednesday.
After taking over the reigns of the Congress party just before the 2024 elections, Sharmila embarked on a state wide tour to revive the Congress party prospects in the upcoming elections.

As her state tour concluded on Tuesday, Sharmila arrived back at the Kadapa parliament, from where she is contesting in the upcoming elections, and held back to back roadshows at Kalasapadu, Porumamilla, B Kodur mandals and Atlur mandals in the Badvel assembly constituency on Wednesday.
Recalling the numerous contributions made by her father in the capacity as an MLA, MP and later on as the Chief minister of the state to his home district Kadapa, Sharmila urged the voters to pledge support to her in the same manner they backed her father and his younger sibling

YS Vivekananda Reddy

.

“There is a stark comparison between my father’s rule and my brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rule. I will cite one particular example for an instance. While farming was remunerative and was sort of a celebration during my father Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s tenure, the farmers have gone into the vicious debt trap cycle during my brother’s regime. There is distress in the farming community everywhere. There is no MSP. Irrigation projects are lying incomplete and the

YSRCP govt

did nothing to address these issues in the last five years”, Sharmila lamented.
Accusing the CM of shielding Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, who is an accused in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, Sharmila asked the people to introspect if they want to vote for an accused whose name prominently features in the CBI chargesheet or if they will pledge support to her to relive the ideals of her father Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
