IPL captains missing from T20 World Cup
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans)
Gujarat Titans skipper, Shubman Gill will be travelling as a reserve player in the T20 World Cup. Gill has not find his best in IPL 2024 but has consistently scored runs. The right-handed batter has played 10 innings in IPL 2024 and scored 320 runs at a good strike rate of 140+.
Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders)
KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer could not find his place in the Indian squad for T20 World Cup. Batting in the middle-order, Iyer has not been able to clear the boundary ropes more often. Iyer has also not been a regular member of the Indian side for the past few months which is probably why his name was not considered for the squad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings)
CSK skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad is on the second spot for leading run-scorer in IPL 2024. Speaking about his strike rate, Gaikwad is playing at a rate of 149.50 in IPL 2024. However, his selection always seemed to be difficult with several contenders already in contention for the opening spot.
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants)
One of the most surprising exclusion, KL Rahul was not named in the Indian squad for T20 World Cup. In IPL, Rahul is opening for LSG. On contrary, if Rahul was selected for T20 World Cup, then he would have batted in the middle-order. Apart from that, Rahul has also been criticized for his strike rate and slow approach in T20 format. In IPL 2024, Rahul has scored 378 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 144.27.
