Another day in IPL 2024 saw another clobbering masterclass from the Sunrisers Hyderabad batters, who posted the fourth highest total in IPL history against the Delhi Capitals.
SRH also have the highest-ever IPL total to their name – having scored 287 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier this week. Prior to that game, the 2016 winners had scored the previous best total in the game against Mumbai Indians this season, when they mustered 277 runs to overtake RCB in the tally.
Ignited off to a fiery start by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, SRH finished on a high – after a relative slump in the middle overs – thanks to a first-ever IPL fifty for Shahbaz Ahmed.

The onslaught saw SRH nail 24 boundaries off the 36 deliveries they played during the course of the powerplay – 13 fours, 11 sixes.

Crossing the 250-run mark for the third time in this season already, SRH levelled Surrey as the only two franchise T20 teams to have done so.
The Pat Cummins-led side closed the innings with 22 sixes, equalling their own record from earlier this week against RCB.

For the Delhi Capitals’ bowlers, it was a nightmare evening. Off the six bowlers deployed by captain Rishabh Pant, three conceded more than fifty runs. Only RCB have had more bowlers leak fifty plus runs in an IPL innings – no coincidence against the same team in the same week.
