‘. The actor known for a number of television shows and movies apart from being a well-known host for his shows like ‘Simply Shekhar’. Apart from his on-screen portrayals, Shekhar is often known to be very vocal and honest about everything. In a recent interview, he has opened up at legnth on the illness which is elder son Aayush went through.

Shekhar lost his first son when he was just 11 years old.
Aayush was suffering from a rare disease called

Endomyocardial fibrosis

(EMF), which affects the heart, according to National Organisation for Rare Disorders (NORD). Shekhar opened up more on the awareness of this disease and the pain he went through when he lost his son. He told during a chat with ABP, “EMF is a disease so rare that it affects only one in billions. As far as I know, there might be only three or four cases of it in India. Unfortunately, there is no known cure; the only treatment option is a heart transplant.”
He further added that he was holding Aayush in his arms when they rushed him to the hospital but the doctor informed them that he’s no more. “I kept lying with him, with his body, all night, all day, and cried a lot.

The actor confessed that they left no stone unturned in order to save him. It was some divine intervention that he lived for not just eight months but for four years. Shekhar and his wife were in dispair as they spend sleepless nights gazing at his face. They had this deep sense of helplessness and they felt that they were also dying with him.
