Mayank last played an IPL 2024 match on April 7 and has been sidelined since due to an injury.
Mayank Yadav is fit and ready to fire! The speedster, who had taken the world by storm after breaking the 155-kmph barrier multiple times, has been out of action for the Lucknow Super Giants for the last three weeks. But, luckily for him and the India cricket team, he’s been declared fit by LSG’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, a couple of days before the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 is announced.
Mayank Yadav already under BCCI’s scanner?
Mayank has mightily impressed everyone in the three matches he’s played in the IPL 2024 season. He has 6 wickets at 9 and an economy of 6. These mind-boggling numbers had forced the BCCI selectors to take a look at the 21-year-old speedster. According to ESPN, the pacer was in contention to make India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad before he was injured.
Now that he’s been declared fit, it won’t be a shock that his name is included in the 20-man squad that’ll go to the USA and West Indies. While he may not find a place in the main 15, he will likely travel with the team as a reserve.
His speed will prove to be an X-factor for the Indian cricket team, with the majority of the fast bowlers hovering around the range of 135 to 145. Mayank Yadav can come in as the middle-overs enforcer and break the momentum before the opposition gets the license to go at everything in the death-overs.
