was a private affair and Taapsee has yet not shared photos on social media. But a few pictures and videos went viral on the internet. One saw Taapsee’s entry during the varmala ceremony, dancing on Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh’s famous authentic ‘tappe’, ‘Kothe Te Aa Mahiya’.
What got noticed and left netizens wondering was why the actress chose to wear a salwar kameez instead of a lehenga at her wedding.
She’s finally opened up on it during a chat with Hindustan Times. Taapsee said that she’s grown up seeing Sikh and Gurudwara weddings hence for her, the classic idea of getting married was always in a proper red salwar kameez paired with a dupatta with ‘kinari’ on the border. “That’s the only way I know a bride looks like a bride, and it didn’t feel like a real wedding vibe to me to imagine myself dressing up in pastel hued lehengas,” said Taapsee.
She further added she did not opt for a big designer as it would have been difficult to keep it private then. Hence, she asked her college friend to design all her wedding attire. Taapsee said, “When you have some big name on board, then the chances of the news getting leaked out are very high, and I wanted to keep it very private. So, my college friend, Mani Bhatia designed all my outfits, and that’s how I wanted them. I didn’t have any lehenga in my entire wedding because I wanted to dance a lot at all functions.”
Taapsee and Mathias’ Udaipur wedding had very few celebs from the industry. Taapsee’s co-star Pavail Gulati, writer-producer Kanika Dhillon were among the few who attended as they’re close friends with the actress.
