Mohun Bagan started the match on the front foot. The Mariners knew they needed a win by a margin of two goals to qualify within the 90 minutes. Jason Cummins scored a strikers’ goal in the 22nd minute to put the Mariners ahead. Odisha FC tried hard to make a comeback into the game but the Mohun Bagan defence proved strong enough to thwart their attacks.
Mohun Bagan kept pushing for the winning goal and found it in the 93rd minute when Sahal Abdul Samad tapped in in front of the goal to reach their consecutive final in two years.
